Grenadian authorities intensified the search for Cary physical therapist Elizabeth Waddell after reconstructing her last recorded movements near Grand Anse Beach. Elizabeth Waddell, 44, of Cary had been missing since July 22 while vacationing in the Grand Anse Beach area of St. George's, Grenada. Police said surveillance video showed her walking toward a jetty at 11:36 a.m., entering the water around 11:51 and swimming at 12:04.

Investigators said available surveillance did not show Waddell returning from the water. Video showed her friend going outside to look for her around 12:46 p.m. before Waddell was reported missing.

Grenada's Coast Guard and local dive teams searched underwater, and authorities deployed a police dog and reviewed movements of people, vehicles and vessels. The U.S. State Department said it was aware of the case and assisting the family with missing-person reports while withholding private details.

A surveillance camera records only its field of view, so the absence of a return image does not establish a route or cause of disappearance by itself. Search planning uses currents, weather, visibility, coastline access and the time since a last known position to prioritize areas.

Grenadian police continued to classify the matter as a missing-person investigation rather than announcing a criminal conclusion. As of the edition cutoff, The video did not establish what happened outside the camera view, and authorities had not announced a recovery or confirmed cause. The available reports distinguish measurements and attributed claims from conclusions that had not yet been established. Where officials supplied numbers, those figures remain subject to revision as agencies reconcile records and publish later updates. Subsequent records may therefore change the totals without changing the initial chronology. The next factual records to examine are search-area updates and any new verified sighting or evidence and official statements from Grenadian police and the family.
