Johnston County Little League defeated Kentucky 2-0 on Sunday in Greenville to win the Little League Softball World Series. Johnston County beat Lake Mary, Florida, 4-0 in Saturday’s semifinal. The team reached the international tournament after winning North Carolina’s state title.

Many of the players are classmates from the Archer Lodge area. Johnston County Little League operates in partnership with Archer Lodge Parks and Recreation. The final score records two Johnston County runs and none for Kentucky.

Little League’s softball tournament advances teams through local, state and regional qualification. A shutout means the opponent did not score during the game; it does not by itself describe pitching, defense or baserunning. Local recreation departments commonly support fields and facilities while league volunteers organize teams and competition. The two final-round results provide a clear competitive record without needing to infer individual performance. WRAL’s current story did not include a full box score, pitch count or play-by-play for either game.

The semifinal and final together produced six runs for Johnston County and zero for its opponents. The tournament result was complete when WRAL published its report. Youth rosters and individual player details require care because the participants are minors. Community recognition may follow the title, but no official local ceremony was announced in the report. Any parade, proclamation or school event would be a later development rather than part of the verified championship result.

The reporting available at the edition deadline did not resolve this point: the report did not publish a complete box score or individual statistics. The next dated records are Little League’s official tournament record and local recognition announcements.
